Duck the media
and all the hysteria they bring
with their jobs half done and full of fibs.
Somebody should tell them
if they can't come correct
don't distribute ink to paper,
don't bring words to mouth.
Wonder what is given
in exchange for the truth.
Why tell the public the half
if you can't tell the whole?
Why tell the whole if it may
put them at risk, or give the
enemies "heads up"?
Duck the media,
hide at all costs.
If you see them coming
don't smile or stick out
your middle finger,
cuz, whatever you do
will be misconstrued.
If you must when they've
snuck a picture just look
dead pan. Don't shake your
head, or say "no comments,"
because they'll be on your
tail even more.
Duck the media
for yesterday's news
is today's headlines, and
what's really important is
not on top but on page 26
where it says "No News Is
Good News", or page 27 where
they admit "Media Mangles Medicine."
Duck the media when elected
officials speak you want to believe
them, though you know you can't.
And, when there's an awful odor
in the air, don't look for the
answers on T.V., newspapers,
or radio, for more than likely
they'll say it's as mysterious as God,
so pray, don't breath and wear a mask.
Don't even follow your nose, just open
the window if you smell it inside and close
them if it's out.
To duck the media
is not merely jabber
but a line of caution
because you need not
be a fool or even be duped
and find yourself on the front lines:
the one who dumped her newborn and said it was kidnapped
the one who slept with her under-aged student
the one who died as he aimed to retrieve his cell phone
from subway tracks.
Duck the media
not because I said so,
but because you should
be lead by your instinct
and not everything you read
