Winter comes early By
Denae Brewer Highbridgians braved the first snowstorm of the season as best they could. “I guess I got caught out there,” said Yvette Reynolds while she did a bit of last minute shopping at the local Associated Supermarket on 166 Street and Ogden Avenue. “They said a storm was coming, but I thought I had a little more time before it hit.” Ms. Reynolds was not the only resident caught off guard. Standing at the bus stop for what he said felt like hours, Russell Graves could not believe it when he heard the Bx. 13 bus wasn’t running. “Man. How am I suppose to get downtown?” he grumbled as he contemplated whether to walk down the steep hill or just head back home. “These people kill me. A few flakes fall and everything shuts down.” Not everyone minded the inconvenience the snowstorm caused. “I like this,” beamed six year old Angela Ramos. Bundled up in her pink jacket and pink Dora the Explorer hat and glove set, Miss Ramos gleefully toddled through mountains of snow in her quest for the perfect snowball. “I’m gonna hit my brother with this one,” she vowed. Totals for the two day snowstorm was 28 inches in the Bronx and it’s not even winter yet.
